Aardvarks (Orycteropus
afer) are the only animal in the order Tubulidentata. This means
that they are not related to any other animal species today, which makes them
totally unique! The aardvark is found throughout much of Africa. Primarily
nocturnal, it lives in burrows and feeds mainly on ants and termites. Aardvarks
are NOT 'Anteaters.'

'Aardvarks are nocturnal animals. Although named for eating ants, they
mostly eat termites. Burrowing into termite mounds using their strong claws,
the insects are collected on their long sticky tongue.'
